Guy Bjerke is the Director of Community Reuse Planning for the City of Concord. He’s responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Reuse Area Plan for the redevelopment of the former Concord Naval Weapons Station.
Regional Planning Day on April 13th will include a field trip to the former Concord Naval Weapons Station for a tour by the Executive Director Guy Bjerke to talk about the Local Reuse Project and Go Mentum Program. The afternoon will start with Casa Monte City Council Meeting role play activity. This will be followed by a discussion about the regional planning impact on local government with respect to housing and transportation with Lauren Barr, from the City of San Ramon’s Planning Division, Clayton City Councilmember Amy Worth representing the Metropolitan Transportation Committee, and Orinda City Councilmember Julie Pierce representing the Association of Bay Area Governments. Speakers and Panel Members Lauren Barr is the Acting Division Manager for the City of San Ramon’s Planning Services. He has had the opportunity to work on complex land use projects as well as develop and refine local land use policy related to the City General Plan, Climate Action Plan and various Specific Plan documents. Prior to coming to San Ramon, he served as Community Development Director for the City of Laguna Woods and has worked in several other public and private sector positions in both Northern and Southern California over the past 20 years. He was was born and raised in the East Bay, attended Berkeley High School and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Environmental Design. He holds a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon, is a licensed Landscape Architect in California and
