Sumita Bhandari

Sumita Bhandari is an attorney and Bay Area native, having graduated from Monte Vista High School (‘92) and the University of California, Davis (‘96) with a degree in Political Science. In addition to over 25 years in Danville and San Ramon, Sumita has lived in a variety of places around the world and in the United States throughout childhood and early adult life including Saudi Arabia, India, New Jersey, Washington D.C. and South Texas. She received her juris doctorate in 2000 from Boston University Law School, where she was an Editor at the Review of Banking & Financial Law, (formerly the Annual Review of Banking & Financial Law). Early in her career, Sumita worked as an Immigrant Rights Attorney at a leading Asian American Civil Rights organization, Asian Americans Advancing Justice (formerly the National Asian Pacific American Law Consortium), in Washington D.C. She returned to the Bay Area in 2007, and developed a law practice around her interest in helping families accomplish their estate planning objectives. Sumita opened a solo firm before joining Gagen, McCoy, Markowitz and Fanucci in 2016, where she practiced until 2021. She is also a member of the Steering Committee for the San Ramon Valley Diversity Coalition. She is a graduate of Leadership San Ramon Valley Class of 2018. Sumita and her husband Ritesh live in Danville with their three children.
